The Challenge

Amplify leads K-12 curriculum, and AI changes the prize. Winning the next decade means owning the daily teacher and student workflow as well as the content, and that window is closing. Amplify needed its product organization aligned to move as one: a strategy built on its real moats, an operating model that could execute it, and the talent and capability to sustain it. They had to be solved as one problem.

How it unfolded

In December 2025 we ran an AI transformation workshop for Amplify's product and curriculum leaders, "Staking Claim to Education's AI Future." A day of shared vocabulary, frameworks and hard questions about the business model built the conviction to go further. Amplify engaged ProductMind on a full contract in spring 2026. The recommended sequence of strategy, then people, then execution gave way to driving all four workstreams at once, because the moment did not allow for waiting. We embedded with Amplify's product and engineering leaders and drove four workstreams in parallel. The strategy was built on Amplify's real moats and sequenced into named bets. We helped the CPO build consensus for it with the board and the executive team, and vetted external candidate slates for the senior hire. The Operating Contract took shape through the teams that would run it: a Trio unit of product, engineering and design as co-owners, a decision-rights matrix, and a shift from requesting platform capacity to pitching for it. In June, on site with the leadership team, Amplify took over the Operating Contract and began ratifying its behaviors, decision rights and rituals. The platform strategy was refined with the executives who own it. Phase 1 closed on June 12 with a connected set of assets and clean handoffs, and the teams carried the work forward without ProductMind in the room.

In the client's words

"We didn't bring ProductMind in for a deck. Embedded with our teams, they connected the strategy to a new operating model, to the talent we needed to hire, and to the capability to sustain it. Then they handed it all to us, and most of it was running before they left." Alexandra Walsh, Chief Product Officer, Amplify "The test of good outside help is what survives after they go. This survived." Aaron Harnly, Chief Technology Officer, Amplify
